Diner lights

Going to a diner late at night can make you feel like a kid at Christmas or something. You don’t want the magic of the night to end, then you go to this place with cheesy neon lights and a menu full of anything you could want. Almost every booth is open, there’s like no one there, so you can choose the best seat.

You’re starving for some reason so you order that lemon rice soup, pancakes and fries. It’s all pretty mediocre but the novelty of your order, the bustling of the staff and your warm company distract from that. Then everyone decides to get pie or that Napoleon layered dessert. You’re pumped to be in a place that’s as awake as you.

If you hadn’t gone, you would’ve never had those conversations. You would have split and gone to sleep. It’s surprisingly fulfilling.
